PERSONNEL SUPPORT & ADVICE

Summary Of Service...

To support the Headteacher, Governing Body and all staff in a courteous and professional manner, respecting confidentiality and acting within a timespan that reduces the stress on those involved.

Service Features...

RECRUITMENT & SELECTION

• Advice and support on current legislation and its effect on school based employees.


• Advice and support with recruitment and selection procedures, including sex, race, disability and equal pay legislation.


• Statutory checks to meet Government Legislation e.g. Criminal Record Checks.


• Undertake medical clearances and qualification checks at the request of the school.


• Issue offer of appointment letters and contracts to new employees within 1 week of notification.


• Advice and support on job evaluation schemes and assistance on re-grading applications and appeals by staff.


• Provide guidance on the procedures for termination of contracts.


DEVELOPMENT OF POLICIES & PROCEDURES

• Advice and support on the implementation of policies and procedures, including disciplinary, competence/capability, grievance and redundancy.


SICKNESS ABSENCE MONITORING

• Advice and support with staff absence and referrals to Occupational Health.


• Maintaining records of sickness absences (including ensuring appropriate certification is obtained at all stages).


• Provide information to schools when individuals reduce from full pay to half pay and subsequently to no pay.


EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNALS

• Advice and support with industrial tribunal relations issues, including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions/Professional Associations.


• Act as respondent at Employment Tribunals.


• Conducting school initiated investigation in liaison with the governing body.


• Liaison with Police, Child Protection and Social Services regarding Child Protection investigations.


GENERAL

• A designated named contact within Schools First for whom all personnel queries will be conducted in respect of each individual school.
